Now the nicer weather is hopefully on it’s way, I’ve been looking at making some really healthy meals. I think we could all do to shift some winter blubber. So some nice healthy salads are definately on the menu.

It’s a tad difficult to get my grandson to stay in the same room as salad, never mind eat it, so I thought I’d buy a spiralizer and get him interested in eating the green stuff. I also want to try my hand at making my own pasta, so thought it would come in useful for that.

I wasn’t sure what to make of the spiralizer before I got it. I’d done some research on different makes and to be honest some of them seemed to be terrible, so I wasn’t expecting too much. The Spiralizer 5-Blade Vegetable Slicer wasn’t one of the cheaper models, but it still came in under £20 which I didn’t think was too bad.

As you can see from my picture it worked very well and I’m incredibly impressed with it. The legs have suction pads on the bottom and as long as you place the spiralizer on a dry clean surface they work well. It also comes with a variety of blades, I don’t think I’ll use more than a couple of them. I don’t normally add carrot to my salads, but thought it would be fun to try it. The salad was delicious though the onions made me tear up as I put them through…

I’m going to buy a red cabbage soon and have a go at making some homemade coleslaw, I think that will turn out quite delicious.

As good as the Spiralizer is, unfortunately it still didn’t encourage my grandson to eat salad which is a shame, I’ll soldier on trying to convince him how good it is…
